COP 30 - BRAZIL - A Case Study in Event Security Failure
In a 2025 summit on climate change, dozens of INDIGENOUS BRAZILIANS FORCED THEIR WAY into the event. While the event was staffed with uniformed armed perimeter security, the event became compromised by the protesters, who managed to force their way PAST THE PERIMETER SECURITY, placing protectees and attendees at risk. The security failure at this event occurred for two reasons.
Reason #1: The IDEOLOGICAL THREAT that was present was NOT PROPERLY UNDERSTOOD and factored into security protocols.
Reason #2: The perimeter security remained as STATIC PERIMETER SECURITY, having NO DYNAMIC PROTOCOLS in place to adjust or mitigate asymmetric dynamic threat.
